Withdrawing Units

In order to support flexible scenario victory conditions and to support multi-sector campaigning, SEOW allows units to be removed from the battlefield. This process is called Withdrawal.

How To Withdraw a Ground Unit

All tanks, guns, vehicles and infantry can be withdrawn by moving them to within the Control Radius of a Road Supply Point. Once they are close enough, open the MP, left-click on the unit to be withdrawn, then right-click and select Withdraw Unit. The unit is then immediately withdrawn, decommissioned and the unit objects are placed into the reinforcement pool, including any freighted objects. As of MP v4.710, all withdrawn units will appear in the reinforcement pool with a "transit delay", preventing them being recommissioned until the delay has expired.

How To Withdraw a Rail Unit

All trains can be withdrawn by moving them to within the Control Radius of a Rail Supply Point. Once they are close enough, open the MP, left-click on the unit to be withdrawn, then right-click and select Withdraw Unit. The unit is then immediately withdrawn, decommissioned and the unit object(s) are placed into the reinforcement pool, including any freighted objects. As of MP v4.710, all withdrawn units will appear in the reinforcement pool with a "transit delay", preventing them being recommissioned until the delay has expired.

How To Withdraw a Ship Unit

All ships can be withdrawn by moving them to within the Control Radius of a Ship Withdraw Point.

How To Withdraw an Air Unit

In the MP, select the flight you wish to withdraw. Right-click on the map and toggle Supply/Withdraw Points on. Task the flight to fly to the Air Withdraw Point (circular icon with cross). Finalize and Commit the task order. In the next mission, the flight will appear and will fly to the Withdraw Point and will circle there until the mission is ended. During the following Analyze cycle, SEOW will dissolve the flight and place the airframes in the associated Air Supply Point as reinforcements. Any freighted objects are withdrawn too. As of MP v4.710, all withdrawn units will appear in the reinforcement pool with a "transit delay", preventing them being recommissioned until the delay has expired.

There is also facility for airbases to be designated as "Withdraw Airbases". In this case, any flight with a Withdraw Airbase as its designated landing point that survives the mission will automatically be withdrawn and decommissioned during the next Analyze cycle. This is especially useful for large maps where aircraft may not have the endurance to fly to a Withdraw Point and circle there for a long time. To designate an airbase as a Withdrawal Airbase, simply edit the Airbase_Name field in the Airbases table to include "(Withdraw)". This works for normal, temporary and seaplane bases.

Finally, note that if human pilots fly a Withdrawal mission, they do not need to circle the Withdrawal Point until mission end. Since the Withdrawal Points are usually at the edge of the map, it is often good practice to fly to the Withdrawal Point then continue into the uncharted wilderness, thereby leaving the combat zone.
