adding an airfield

Post by 22GCT_Gross »

I'd like to add a grass airfield and an iron strip field in a scenary.
If I used a temporary airbase field (# 100/199) (added to airbase table) I'm not be able to assign some aircrafts for take-off, only for landing.
So, maybe should I use a normal field (# 1/99)?
Should I add the strip object in the .mis file used for template building at new airfield coordinates?
I'd like to know the best way for doing that.

Hi Gross,

When adding a temporary strip, the FMB will only give you a landing point. Inside the .mis file you will also see the runway midpoint coordinates. You can using the landing point coords and midpoint coords to calculate the takeoff point coords for use in the Airbases table.

Make sure you define the new runway in the Airbases table BEFORE you start your template. When building you template, have the temporary runway in position so you can set flights to land there. Create the template then, as the last operation, remove the temporary runway object. Load the template using the DCS as normal.

Cheers,
