How to amend mission file to hide pilot identity

Post by Kopfdorfer »

Hi Guys

I remember this as an HSFX feature , but I forget how it works.
As I recall this enabled the ready room to show blank lines instead of aircraft and occupants to
simulate fog of war.
If the explanation is not brief , could you redirect me to some
info in how to use this feature.
If it is brief , perhaps you could put it in a short answer here.

Thanks guys.
The older I get , the less I know !

Hi Kopfdorfer,
Happy 2026 to you!

I suspect you are referring to the "Coop Mod Slot" mod in HSFX. With this mod, you can append 3 lines to any mission file to limit visibility of enemy air slots in the pre-mission seat selection window.

Here is an example set of directives for Coop Mod Slot:

Code: Select all

[MODSLOT]
R =69.GIAP= IAF
B 22GCT 102nd IV/JG7
The first line "[MODSLOT]" announces to HSFX to expect two following lines, the first for Allied pilot call signs, the next for Axis pilot call signs. Each line consists of a list of call sign prefixes that identify pilots of each alignment.

For the example above, that means that any pilot call sign that starts with "R" or "=69.GIAP=" or "IAF" will be regarded as Allied and the corresponding pilot will not see Axis slots. And any pilot call sign that starts with "G" or "22GCT" or "102nd" or "IV/JG7" will be regarded as Axis and the corresponding pilot will not see Allied slots.

Any pilot call sign that does not correspond to either set of prefixes does not qualify for the mission, so the pilot will not see any air slots and will not be able to join the mission. Once the mission starts it plays normally, Coop Mod Slot is purely a pre-mission mod.

It's a nice mod but I don't know if it was incorporated anywhere other than HSFX. The SEOW DCS will optionally generate Coop Mod Slot directives in IL-2 mission files if required.

Cheers,
4Shades

Exactly what I was after 4Shades.
I am sorry my retention is not what it used to be.
Thanks for your patience.

I hope you are well , and that you managed to find a nice country cottage with a big garden.
I think you were looking for one the last time we had a chat.

Yes, indeed! We bought a little farm in the hills. Birds, trees, breezes and views. It's beautiful.
